The armpit is one of the most annoying areas to shave. It can be quite a painful, tedious task which ends up creating various skin irritations, but it can also be a quick, painless and smooth shaving experience if done correctly.
Armpit Shaving Tips:
If you're shaving your armpits for the first time, or it's simply quite thick, you should first trim it, using either clippers or a pair of scissors. I can't begin to tell you how much this tip helped me avoid wasting time and getting skin rashes.Use a new razor, or at least one that hasn't been used too many times. The armpit is the last area on your body you want to take chances with using a dull blade.Begin by taking a warm shower while giving extra focus on softening your armpit hairs using a body wash. These steps will open up our pores, as well as clean the hairs.Do not step out of the shower, the trick here is to take advantage of the warm, humid environment your shower has created.Lather up your armpits by applying some shaving cream, gel or foam. Some people use shampoo as an alternative, but from personal experience I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're inexperienced in shaving that area.Extend your arm fully and place it above your head, this will pull your skin taut which will enable you to achieve a closer shave.Arm pit hairs are unique in that they grow out to all directions, in order to properly shave your armpits, you should follow that way. Shave up and down, side to side while using controlled strokes.Remember to rinse the razor in water after every couple of strokes to keep it clean from hairs and shaving cream.Rinse your underarms with cold water after you're done shaving, but do not dry the area using a towel, this is one of the key reasons people end up getting skin irritations. Now it's time to repeat the process on your other arm.Consider using a moisturizer or baby powder to finish your shave. I recommend using the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Body Moisturizer Lotion.Remember:
- Hold off using deodorant after shaving, this is unhealthy and will irritate your skin.
- Shaving your armpits takes some practice, so be patient and don't lose your spirit.
I hope these armpit shaving tips will help you achieve a painless smooth shaving experience.
Good luck!
